Facebook now provides companies the opportunity to target Facebook ads to their existing customers based on email, phone or Facebook user ID list.
This feature is referred Custom Audiences and it definitively opens up to a whole new world of opportunities for your business. Let's now have a look at how to set up and use Custom Audiences.
Setting Up the Facebook Power Editor
To generate Custom Audiences, you can do it both in the live version of your account or in the Power Editor. I personally prefer the Power Editor since I find it handier.
The Facebook Power Editor can be seen in the Facebook Ads Manager at almost the bottom of the vertical menu on the left. The Power Editor is really good for complex ad campaigns and mass uploading. Every one of your ads from Facebook will display there and you will be able to modify, delete or add campaigns in an offline environment (you are technically online but changes are not posted as make them).
You then need to click on the menu on the top left part of the screen and select "Audiences". From there, it is quite straight forward to set it up.
Ensure you name your audience in a way that it is easy to recognize.
At this time, you will be asked to make a name for the audience and write a small description that you can look at afterwards. Confirm it's explanatory enough that you may possibly recognize it later.
Subsequently, choose Choose File to upload a .CSV or .TXT file pulled from your database of those audiences you'd wish to target. You can match up users based on email address, Facebook user ID, or numbers. The information you have will require to match with the data your audiences have on their Facebook profile for the reason that of this, matching up by email address, or Facebook user ID may have the best results.
How to Use Custom Audiences in Facebook Ads
A Custom Audience seen in Facebook is a list of users your business would like to target with your ads. Something I have seen it works very well is to use custom audiences to move existing leads further in the sales funnel.
To target a custom audience that you have created in your account, simply add them as a target in your audience section within the ad menu! (yeah, it is very easy!)
You Can Also Exclude Custom Audiences!
You can in addition make use of this feature to exclude an audience. Just put in your custom audience into the Excluded Audiences option and you will be all set.
By means of an Excluded Audience you will no longer appear for users that do not fit in your sales funnel. Existing consumers or users that you know are not a fine fit for your merchandise would make an excellent Excluded audience to steer clear of wasting funds on advertising to users who will not turn out to be profitable.
Custom Audiences would be an outstanding method to target people who have shown interest in your products, and potentially convert them into clients! No ads will be more efficient than those using Custom Audiences. It’s possible that such ads will be even more successful than those targeted at your current Fans.
